{The Nojd Family} How great is it that all throughout life we get to meet new friends whom we admire, inspire us, and overall, make the world a happier place. The instant Kate came to pick up her youngest daughter at my house I knew we’d be… friends! And I had such a blast photographing not just her immediate family of 7 but her entire family as well – a sneak peek of those soon! With Mother’s Day tomorrow I wanted to make sure my new friend had a little glimpse of her amazing family. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!! Hope you enjoy your day tomorrow however you choose to celebrate. www.teresahermesphotography.com

Maddie & Drew – Silly Siblings! ~ Eden Prairie Children’s Photographer

    Monday, November 26th, 2012

Have photographed these two a few times over the past 3 or 4 years and everytime is full of laughs!  I love their energy and wish I could bottle it up for a day when I’m out of laughs – and just let it explode and help me along :)

    I Love My Mom

    Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

One thing you need to know about me is that at every session, regardless of how you look or feel – I WILL insist that I take your photo with your kids. And your spouse. I’m sorry, but that is just the way it is. Wait-  I don’t apologize! It’s for your own good and you will thank me later, I promise! I can guarantee you are beautiful JUST.AS.YOU.ARE.  Yoga pants, pony tails, lack of make up, even a lack of shower need not get in our way. Because you know what? Your kids think you are the best and most beautiful mom in the world regardless of the fancy clothes or perfect hairdo and you owe it to them to give them an image to hold onto.

So! Even tho I forewarn new clients sometimes they don’t listen :) Sometimes they fight me on it and sometimes, only sometimes I let it slide. But then when the session is over I feel like I failed them – to not at least have documented something I could have made black and white if necessary and showed them that the camera doesn’t pick up on split ends or bad breath the way they are imagining it (yes, I have had that conversation with people over the years!!)   Ok but REPEAT CLIENTS don’t have an excuse. So if you come to do photos for a second time you just know- I will have you in a photo, like it or not.

On Saturday my friend Heather arrived with her 3 BEAUTIFUL children that have the personality to match all of those good looks and says we are just photographing the kids. ‘Uh-huh,OK’ I say but since this is the second time I’ve taken photos of the kids I know I won’t let it slide :) Last summer it was 110 degrees in the shade and I think she had run about 100 miles before the session so I did let it go but not this time. And LOOK! Will you just LOOK AT THAT!  I made her get in and the kids were sooooo thrilled they just glommed onto her and it was immediate magic unfolding on my camera. As I looked through my camera at them clamouring to get as close as possible to their mom I was giddy. I feel like this is the kind of photo that every mom should have with their kids.  *I*  want this photo with my kids! cheek to cheek, with both of them! All of us smiling but not because we are supposed to but because we are just so happy to be there. That was how this was – so spontaneous, so joyful, and just so happy to be there, with their mom :)

What a beautiful evening we had doing Adelaide’s photographs in the park. It was one of the very last days of Summer – you could ask for a prettier night. She had just started walking – I love this stage!!

    Adelaide’s Special Day

    Monday, August 20th, 2012

How cute are these 3?! Miss Adelaide traveled all the way from London to get baptized at the Basilica of St. Mary where her parents were married just a few years earlier. Addie decided the photo session was a great time to take a nap so since it was raining at the time (thank you Medora and Hiram, for bringing the London weather with you!), I was able to spend a few minutes alone, photographing these lovebirds on the beautiful grounds. What a special day it was for their family. Congratulations! Thank you for letting me document your day with photographs! :)

Wow!!  I have really had the pleasure of doing a lot of sisters this summer  – both in pairs and trios and I love it! Seems like 2011 was the summer/fall of boy families and that was super awesome too but I am definately enjoy a more girly twist this summer! Lots more twirling, singing, talking about princesses, gymnastics, and Justin Bieber vs. super heros, hockey, and Harry Potter. It’s probably to my advantage that I have both a son and a daughter because regardless of their interests, their peer and pop culture keep me tuned in to what is the latest and greatest.

All that aside – it was really wonderful to meet this new family with 3 beautiful girls all with very different interests and personalities as well as their looks!  They were so much fun to play with and while we dodged the mosquitos as well as other photographers that night we had tons of fun. Here is just a peek at their session near Lake Harriet.

    Maison Galleria Spring Boutique Event!

    Monday, April 23rd, 2012

Just over a week ago I held a spring boutique open house event at the beautiful Maison Galleria in downtown Stillwater - what a great night! We had nearly a dozen women-opened businesses set up tables throughout the store and served wine and dessert . 80+ people came through during the open house to shop and mingle, so fun!   Sadly I got so caught up chatting with old friends and meeting new ones I never took any photos with the exception of some table set ups at the beginning of the party.

Thank you!!! To all the wonderful women who brought their merchandise in to sell and provided door prize giveaways! and THANK YOU to all the shoppers who came on down to support me and the businesses that night – it was a wonderful evening and I am grateful for your friendship! Too bad we don’t have any fun party pics from the evening. If you want any information any of the people who were selling let me know and I can connect you.

New {Modern Headshots} for savvy business professionals!

    Saturday, March 31st, 2012

With having a small business myself I find so much enjoyment in meeting and connecting with other women doing the same thing. Being a mom and running a small business, no matter how big or small is a ton of work! But a ton of rewarding work at that :)  I find often times women refer to their businesses as ‘the first baby’ or ‘third baby’ or whatever number it may be because it truly is like having a child in the fact you are most likely thinking about that business ALL. THE. TIME. Well maybe not allll the time but it’s somewhere in the back of your head most of the time.  It seems that while note working you are inspired about something you want to do for your business or you think about something you are working on or needs to be done for your business, or maybe that is just me and quite possibly, because I love what I do :)   However it shakes out, I am always drawn to and love talking to other women who light up when speaking of their passion, their small business, their ‘other child’ so to speak.

Here are a few fabulous women I’ve had the chance to meet over the course of the past few weeks – talented, compassionate, savvy, and seeking the balance we allstrive to meet with our families.
