Just a quick glimpse at a handful of photo sessions I did in MID-APRIL in 2012! Amazing flowering tress both at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis and Aamodt’s Apple Orchard in Stillwater. I can’t help but wonder if we’ll even have them late this year? None of the trees I’ve seen even show a hint of a bud
Anyhow, here’s to dreaming!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013Where do I begin! This beautiful and sweet tween arrived to my studio ON HER BIRTHDAY with the most sparkly eyes, curls to die for, and a vivacious personality all I could think was ‘lucky me’!!
She is an aspiring actress set to follow her dreams and has some big plans. I love when people actually set out to make progress on those dreams they’ve had in their hearts and their heads for a long time, instead of just talking about them and wishing and wondering. I admire that!
Here are just a few of the photos from our afternoon – we took so many! I could have played all day. Her mom was so awesome the 3 of us just had a great time sharing and telling stories – I love sessions like that!
All the best to you Skye – break a leg next month!: )

Monday, November 26th, 2012Lake Harriet Family Fun {sneak peek family photography}
Sunday, November 18th, 2012
Oh how I love Magical Lake Harriet in the fall! Ok, well anytime of year! It always draws me in under it’s spell. A place I’ve found myself hooked for half my life. And then, a place I have fond memories of visiting as a child too. I’ve watched it evolve and change ever so slightly over time yet the same feeling remains.
Well this family and I go way back as I had the pleasure of meeting both boys in the hospital when they were just a few days old. Needless to say, I’ve watched them grow up being we lived nearby and our children are close in age. So when it was their turn for photos I found my camera poised and frozen until their ‘whhhhaaat!?!…sort of snapped me out of it
Apparantly I was ogling/smilng/pausing a bit too long for their comfort, I’m sure. But what I was marveling at was how grown up they were, how handsome. When did they get so big? I was sure it was just a few weeks ago their mom and I were having coffee at Caribou and our newborns were sleeping in the car seats at our feet….
I Love My Mom
Wednesday, October 10th, 2012One thing you need to know about me is that at every session, regardless of how you look or feel – I WILL insist that I take your photo with your kids. And your spouse. I’m sorry, but that is just the way it is. Wait- I don’t apologize! It’s for your own good and you will thank me later, I promise! I can guarantee you are beautiful JUST.AS.YOU.ARE. Yoga pants, pony tails, lack of make up, even a lack of shower need not get in our way. Because you know what? Your kids think you are the best and most beautiful mom in the world regardless of the fancy clothes or perfect hairdo and you owe it to them to give them an image to hold onto.
So! Even tho I forewarn new clients sometimes they don’t listen
Sometimes they fight me on it and sometimes, only sometimes I let it slide. But then when the session is over I feel like I failed them – to not at least have documented something I could have made black and white if necessary and showed them that the camera doesn’t pick up on split ends or bad breath the way they are imagining it (yes, I have had that conversation with people over the years!!) Ok but REPEAT CLIENTS don’t have an excuse. So if you come to do photos for a second time you just know- I will have you in a photo, like it or not.
On Saturday my friend Heather arrived with her 3 BEAUTIFUL children that have the personality to match all of those good looks and says we are just photographing the kids. ‘Uh-huh,OK’ I say but since this is the second time I’ve taken photos of the kids I know I won’t let it slide
Last summer it was 110 degrees in the shade and I think she had run about 100 miles before the session so I did let it go but not this time. And LOOK! Will you just LOOK AT THAT! I made her get in and the kids were sooooo thrilled they just glommed onto her and it was immediate magic unfolding on my camera. As I looked through my camera at them clamouring to get as close as possible to their mom I was giddy. I feel like this is the kind of photo that every mom should have with their kids. *I* want this photo with my kids! cheek to cheek, with both of them! All of us smiling but not because we are supposed to but because we are just so happy to be there. That was how this was – so spontaneous, so joyful, and just so happy to be there, with their mom

Saturday, August 18th, 2012Meeting up with Minnesota Baby’s Mommy Blogger and ‘I See Me!’ Books
Sunday, August 5th, 2012Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Minnesota Baby’s founder, Mommy-Blogger Melissa Saigh, at her home in Minnetonka to photograph her and her beautiful 1 year old daughter for I See Me! Books.
Melissa Saigh is a mommy-blogger and the owner and founder of Minnesota Baby, a website and blog aimed at reviewing baby, maternity, and family-friendly products and services. After the birth of her daughter in August 2011, she left her position at TWIN CITIES LIVE (KSTP) to on-air product reviews. She can be seen on KSTP, KARE 11, and FOX 9 here in the Twin Cities, and also travels to do on-air appearances. Melissa, her husband AJ, and their daughter Linna reside in Minnetonka, but will soon be leaving on a three-month adventure to Singapore! You can follow her website and blog by going to www.minnesotababy.org and www.minnesotababy.blogspot
Sisters!
Monday, July 23rd, 2012Wow!! I have really had the pleasure of doing a lot of sisters this summer – both in pairs and trios and I love it! Seems like 2011 was the summer/fall of boy families and that was super awesome too but I am definately enjoy a more girly twist this summer! Lots more twirling, singing, talking about princesses, gymnastics, and Justin Bieber vs. super heros, hockey, and Harry Potter. It’s probably to my advantage that I have both a son and a daughter because regardless of their interests, their peer and pop culture keep me tuned in to what is the latest and greatest.
All that aside – it was really wonderful to meet this new family with 3 beautiful girls all with very different interests and personalities as well as their looks! They were so much fun to play with and while we dodged the mosquitos as well as other photographers that night we had tons of fun. Here is just a peek at their session near Lake Harriet.
